Obituary

Alfred I. Morgan, "Fred" of Moonachie, closed his eyes and joined his beloved wife Glenda, in heaven on June 19th, 2020, he was 83. Fred was born on February 17th, 1937 in Berks County, PA to John and Clarinda (LePage) Morgan. He was raised in Passaic and had also lived in Garfield and Lodi for many years, prior to moving to Moonachie in 2000. Fred was a devoted husband, father and provider, often working extra shifts to ensure his family was well cared for. He had worked for Gibraltar Plastics, in Lodi. He was an invaluable employee of the company, and had worked in every capacity imaginable, from a machinist to machine operator; no one knew the complete operation as well as Fred. He retired in 1995, but could not sit still, so he began a second career as a maintenance provider for a Laundromat in Woodridge. When Fred wasn't working, he could be found watching the old western's. He enjoyed watching John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and all the other famous spaghetti western actors. He was also an avid fisherman. His family recounted his enjoyment making his own sinkers for fishing. Fred was predeceased by his beloved wife Glenda and his cherished daughter Kim. He is survived by his beloved children Ellen and her husband Mark DiClemente, Fred Morgan, Donna and her husband Ed Abraham and Todd Morgan. He is also survived by his five grandchildren Danyell, Aaron, Shaina, Juliana, Jyoti and five great grandchildren, Izayah, Anthony, Briella, Evangaleen and Dylon. I'm not sure what to say as I sit here wishing I could plan my next visit with cheesecake and watermelon/cherry Jolly Ranchers in hand...that was my plan. Until yesterday.
I wish we had more time, but our Sunday hours-long phone conversation will never be forgotten. After all this time, we both were able to share new memories to each other. I love you Daddy...I always have and I always will. I wish you always knew that...but that was my ignorance, not yours.
There are a lot of little memories I have, but too many to share here. I received my work ethic from you (I remember being on your knee when you told me to get a good education and a corner office; to see the idiot across the street working his butt off in the sweaty factory)...I never thought less of you because of it. In fact, I respected you more for your hard work. I remember all the plastic rolls and some plastic character banks, and yellow rubber duckies you brought home. As an adult I bought a yellow rubber duck who sits on my bathroom window til this day. Every once and a while I smell it and the memories flood back. Or, when I use plastic in general.
Daddy, last night I begged you to come to me in my dreams to say good-bye...but, you must have been busy. Its OK...Godspeed to your next journey. Know you are loved, always. I am comforted to know you have no more pain and are not restricted by a bum hip. You are free.

Grandpa - Let me start by saying I am so sorry we can not be there to say good bye and also for not being able to see you before you left this earth. I am sorry my kids never got to meet you or have any memories/pictures with you. I have enjoyed the last 3 years of conversations and being able to have you back in my life. You and grandma were a major part of my life when growing up. I know our family is far from perfect and I mean far, but no matter what I love you! Our trips to Pathmark/Shoprite for cold cuts. Hanging out by your garden that you were so proud of. Or just picking on Chubby and what you always wanted to stamp on his forehead. I know your resting easy now and no longer in any pain. Probably back to gardening and arguing with Grandma again. Say hi to her and my mom for me. Remember we love you and it's not good-bye. See you later!
