Obituary for Edward E Hanzl

Edward Hanzl of East Rutherford, New Jersey, entered eternal life on Wednesday, October 5th, 2022, he was 91. Edward was born in Passaic, New Jersey on July 10th, 1931, to Alois and Elizabeth (Boisits) Hanzl. Edward was married to Emily Bednarczyk on November 22nd, 1952. At the time of Emily's passing, they had been married for nearly sixty three years. Edward proudly served in the United States ARMY, during the Korean conflict. During his professional career he worked as a mechanical engineer and in 1993 he retired from Coining Technologies in Clifton, NJ. At one time he owned several racing horses, and "Enjoyed the Ponies." He also enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City with his beloved wife Emily, and later with his daughter Debra and her husband Joseph and family. Edward was also a master tinkerer, a genuine "Mr. Fix It." He was a life member of the East Rutherford VFW Memorial Post 8374, the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Knights of Columbus Council 3644, an active member of the East Rutherford Seniors Club, and the Wallington AARP 4115. He was also a longtime parishioner and usher of The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. He is survived by his devoted daughter Debra, and her husband Joseph Barbera, his beloved grandchildren Brian and his wife Nicole Barbera and Melissa Barbera, his dear nephew Tom Ruggiero and nieces Geraldine Heinrichs, Jacqueline Smith. Edward was also looking forward to the arrival of his precious great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by his sisters, Elizabeth Berta, Maria Murlasits, Helen Grunwald, and brothers, John and Rudolph Hanzl. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 am, Tuesday, October 11th, 2022, The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 127 Paterson Avenue, Wallington, New Jersey 07057.
