Elaine Zoon, of Wallington, entered eternal life on Sept 15th, she was 84. Elaine was born in Passaic on March 16th, 1933 to Nicholas and Cornilia (Edwards) Van Howling. Elaine was married to William J. Zoon, Sr on Aug 26th, 1952. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage before Bill’s passing in Jan of 2016. Together with her husband, Elaine was a proud and dedicated parishioner of the Wallington Presbyterian Church. She had served for many years as Superintendent of the Sunday School. For many years Elaine worked at the Pathmark in Garfield, retiring in 1988. Elaine and Bill had been active members of the Wallington Seniors and the AARP Chapter 4115. She was a founder of the Wallington Seniors women’s crocheting group, “The Happy Hookers.” Elaine was an Auxiliary Member of Wallington Fire, Truck Company No. 1. Elaine is the beloved mother of Susan Devlin and her husband Robert, her son William J. Zoon, Jr and his wife Cynthia. She is survived by her devoted grandchildren, Kristen, Holli, Veronica and Shawn Wieland, and her two great granddaughters Fiona and Ruby. Visiting Sun, 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave. Wallington. A Funeral will be celebrated 10am Mon, Sept 18th, at the Wallington Presbyterian Church. 9 Bond St, Wallington. Interment will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.
