Obituary for Gerard F. Peer

Gerard “Jerry” F. Peer of Wallington, NJ, entered eternal life on August 24th, he was 85. Gerard was born on December 1, 1934 to Harry and Anna (McLaughlin) Peer in Jersey City, where he was also raised. Prior to settling in Wallington, he had lived in Secaucus from 1965 to 1973. Jerry married his beloved wife Nancy (nee Clementi), in Jersey City. For many years Jerry had worked for the United Parcel Service, “UPS”, first in Secaucus then moving to the Saddle Brook facility, retiring in 1999, after 33 years of service. Jerry was also a proud member of the Union, Local 177. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed fishing, spending time on the beach or walking the boardwalk. He also enjoyed watching football and socializing with friends. He enjoyed family gatherings and traditions, especially with his grandchildren. Jerry also enjoyed sharing stories of his life’s adventures. Jerry could often be found talking to people, traveling, and sitting under his Tiki hut in Aruba. He was truly loved by all with whom his path had crossed. Jerry had been a longtime parishioner and usher at the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Wallington. He is survived by his beloved wife Nancy and he is the devoted father of Timothy and his wife Regina, Cynthia and her husband Michael Cavagnaro. He is the proud grandfather of Jerrick and Mackenzie Cavagnaro, Ryan, Haley and Shane Peer. Jerry was predeceased by his brother Harold and his sister Eileen Leavy. Visiting Thursday, August 27th, 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave, Wallington, NJ. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10am, Friday, August 29th at The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 127 Paterson Avenue, Wallington, NJ.
