Obituary for Kenneth J. "Kenny" Gajda

Kenneth J, Gajda, Sr., a lifelong resident of Wallington, entered eternal life on July 21st, he was 86. Kenneth was born in the family home on Hayward Place to Thomas and Mary Gajda (nee Faiger) on February 19th,1934. Kenneth was known to his friends as Kenny. He graduated from Bloomfield Technical School, where he studied aircraft mechanics. In 1953, during the Korean War, Kenny proudly answered the call of his country and joined the United States Army, serving as an Electrical Machinist and Small Arms Mechanic. He achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant Infantry and earned the Good Conduct and National Defense medals. In 1955, after receiving an honorable discharge, Kenny returned to his hometown and on April 21,1956, married his sweetheart, Regina Moroshi at the Holy Family Church, in Bellville. Kenny worked for Griggs Machinist and Fabricating Co., on Hathaway Street for over 15 years as a master Machinist, until their closing in 1990. He then worked as a machinist at Hoffman-La Roche in Nutley, until his retirement in 2007. Kenny had many hobbies and interests, he was an amateur pilot, an avid gardener, an outdoors man, a car mechanic but most of all he was invaluable to his family, and known as “Mr. Fix It”. Kenny was extremely community minded and joined the Wallington Fire Department Truck Company # 201, achieving the rank of Chief in 1982, and having served for over 50 years. Kenneth is survived by his daughter Cindy Sabia and her husband John; and his daughter Kimberly Fedor and her husband Richard. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, R.J., Daniel, Lindsey, and Nicholas. He is also survived by his Daughter-in-law Kim Gajda and his dear sister Amelia Sudol. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Regina and his cherished son Kenneth J, Gajda, Jr.
Visiting Saturday, July 25, 2 - 5 pm, Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Avenue, Wallington. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations in memory of "Kenneth J,Gajda Sr." to the New Jersey Fireman’s Home, 565 Lathrop Avenue, Boonton NJ. 07005 www.njfh.org
