Obituary for Michal Zak

Michał F. Żak of Garfield, beloved father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and Servant of God was called into the Lord’s Kingdom at the age of 70 on Sunday, March 7th, 2021. Michal was born on September 7th, 1950 in Przyszów, Poland to Antoni and Maria Żak. He was a member of the Polish Army for two years. He was married to the love of his life, Maria Błądek, in June of 1973 in Stany, Poland by the Reverend Jan Kula. While in Poland, he worked on the family farm while also being a welder in ironwork plants. The entire family emigrated to Wallington in 1992 in pursuit of the American Dream, which he had proudly achieved while working tirelessly. He worked as a machinist at Allstate Can Corporation in Parsippany. He was a devoted parishioner of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Wallington, where he was able to practice his faith which he loved so dearly. Michał was known for being a very active man, always doing something, either around the house or helping family and friends. He was known for making his delicious smoked meats around the holidays, taking care of the greenery, and playing around with tools in the garage. Michał is survived by his cherished wife of 47 years, Maria, along with his daughter Małgorzata and her husband Jacek, and his son Mirosław and his wife Ewa. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren Jakub, Szymon, Zachary, Monica, and Sarah. Michał is survived by his siblings Józef, Katarzyna, and Stanislawa. Viewing will take place on Tuesday, March 9th, 2021 at the Warner-Wozniak Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. The Funeral Mass will take place at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church on Wednesday, March 10th, 2021 at 10:00am, followed by internment at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Saddle Brook. In lieu of flowers, the family requests mass intentions to be offered for the repose of the soul of Michał.
