Obituary for Richard Joseph Wojdyla

Richard Wojdyla was born to Helen (Glowacki) and Joseph Wojdyla in Passaic, NJ on September 9th, 1941. Complications during childbirth caused Richard to have limited use of his right arm and right leg, but he never let it slow him down, or stop him from being successful at whatever he put his mind to do. Widely liked and admired by friends and classmates, he was the president of the Senior Class at Garfield High School. He received a scholarship from the Lions Club for his outstanding academic achievements and attended Rutgers University, where he graduated with a degree in Accounting. After passing the CPA exam, he worked for Restaurant Associates in Manhattan until his retirement. Richard loved to travel in his free time, visiting such far-flung locations as Japan, the Galapagos, Poland, the Rhineland, and Africa. He mostly traveled alone but was never lonely, making many new friends along the way, some of whom would join him on other trips. Like his mother, Richard was kind and generous. He had a unique sense of humor and loved (mostly bad) puns. If he were born in a different era, he might have been a social media star for his “dad jokes.” Richard was preceded by his wife Marie (Rubino), his mother Helen, father Joseph, and his younger brothers, Kenneth and Daniel. He is survived by his sister, Jane and her husband, Dominick Annunziata, his nephew Chris Annunziata, his nieces, Dawn Kroog, Jamie, Dani, Nikki, and Denise Wojdyla. He also had two great-nephews, Tyler Kroog and Roman Wojdyla, and two great-nieces, Katey and Samantha Kroog. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to his close friend Donna Dotts, and his aide Edna, who cared for him, laughed with him, and loved him like family. Visiting, 4 - 7 pm, Tuesday, August 1, 2023, Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave., Wallington, NJ 07057. Richard will be laid to rest, 11 am, Wednesday, August 2, St. Michael's Cemetery, 120 Saddle River Rd., South Hackensack, NJ 07606.
