Obituary for Sam Victor "Sammy T." Tremarco

Sam Victor Tremarco, also known as Sammy T, of Kearny, New Jersey, entered eternal life on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023, he was 92. Sam was born in Newark, New Jersey on February 11th, 1930, to George and Mary (Caponegro) Tremarco. Sam attended East Side High School in Newark, graduating in June of 1948. During his high school education, Sam played baseball as a third baseman and shortstop, and was the quarterback for the East Side Red Rader’s. In 1946 his team won the GNT Baseball Championship. It was at this time that Sam was scouted by the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Guardians (formally known as the Cleveland Indians) as well as playing baseball in Canada but a football injury ended his pursuing a career in baseball. Sam was married to his high school sweetheart, Elaine (Giantomas) Tremarco, on June 3, 1951, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Newark. During his professional career, Sam was the Dock Boss at Global Terminal, and Vice President of the International Longshoreman's Association Local 1 in Newark, retiring October 1, 2021. Sam enjoyed Monmouth Park Racetrack and was owner of Tre-Clef Stables for thoroughbred racehorses. He loved visiting his summer home in Long Branch, NJ. He was also a big sports fan with his favorite teams being the Dallas Cowboys, the Boston Red Sox, and the Boston Celtics. Sam had a passion for Cadillacs and sportsbook betting in Atlantic City. He was always extremely generous and kind to all animals, especially his beloved pets. He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Elaine Tremarco, his devoted and loving daughter, Dr. Elaine S Tremarco, and his cherished son, Anthony Tremarco and his wife Marlene. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am, Tuesday, February 7th, 2023, The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 127 Paterson Ave., Wallington, NJ 07057. Sam will be laid to rest, Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Rd., North Arlington, NJ 07031. In lieu of flowers, contributions to S.T.A.R.T Save the Animals Rescue Team are appreciated.
