Obituary for Thaddeus Stankiewicz

Thaddeus Stankiewicz
Thaddeus Stankiewicz peacefully passed away surrounded by family in Garfield, March 9th, 2018, at the age of 71. Thaddeus was born on April 1, 1946, in Szymany, Poland, to Olympia and Ignacius Stankiewicz. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 10 with his family and lived in Brooklyn, NY. Immediately after High School, Thaddeus joined the Navy, stationed on the USS John King in Norfolk, Virginia and was honorably discharged. He held civil service and security jobs prior to getting a degree in maintenance engineering. Thaddeus was a true gentleman with unrelenting optimism, firm conviction, integrity and incredible strength of will. Thaddeus’s Catholic faith played an essential role in his life, strengthening his perseverance through difficult times and nourishing his abundant love for his family. He had incredible pride in being a church Usher at the 9am Sunday Mass at St. Stan’s. Ted’s kind gentle spirit will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Maria, daughter, Dr. Anna Stankiewicz and husband Stanley Bielewicz of Williamsburg, VA and daughter Dr. Danuta Stankiewicz and husband Pawel Kumela of Clifton, NJ. He also leaves to cherish his memory six grandchildren, Nicholas, Patrick and Matthias Bielewicz, and Ania, Paul and Peter Kumela. They will miss Dziadzia greatly, but know he is in heaven as their angel. The Stankiewicz family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the brilliant, caring and compassionate physician who stood by his side- Dr Eli Kirshner, and his staff, along with Hospice nurse Elziebieta Kowal.

Visitation, 2-4 and 7-9, Sunday, Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave, Wallington, Funeral Mass 11:30am, Monday St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Ray St. in Garfield. Expressions of sympathy can be made electronically at www.WarnerAndWozniak.com
