Obituary for Wanda Biernat (Latawiec)

Wanda Biernat of Garfield, NJ entered eternal life on July 26, 2023. She was 76. Wanda was born in Majdan Zbydniowski, Poland, on May 23, 1947 to parents Bronislow and Albina (Surma) Latawiec. Wanda was a registered nurse in Poland, which she loved, and helping people was her passion. Before migrating to the US Wanda lived in Stalowa Wola, which means “Iron Will”, and she had just that, an iron will, and determination to overcome many obstacles. She was considered a very tall woman in Poland standing at 5’11”. Before she was married, she used her above average height to play professional basketball in Poland, which she loved. Later on she was married to Wieslaw Biernat. She was very resilient, and her personality was uplifting and encouraging to others. Wanda was extremely proud to become a US citizen in 2005. Wanda had many hobbies which include sewing and gardening. Wanda was also a lover of animals, especially Niko and Brooklyn, her daughter Eva’s doggies. Wanda is survived by her daughter Eva Biernat- Vicarelli and her husband Michael Vicarelli, her son Krysztof Biernat and his children Marlena and Rafal Biernat, and her niece Gabriela Filip and her family. Wanda is predeceased by her husband Wieslaw Biernat, both her parents Bronislow and Albina, and her sister Mary Brodka and her brother Januszek. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023 at 5PM at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, located at 6 Wall St. Passaic, NJ 07055.
