Adolf Nowicki

January 14, 1943 — May 31, 2025

It is with our deepest sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Adolf Nowicki of Wayne, New Jersey – affectionately known to family and friends as “Doluś” and “Dolek”. Surrounded by his family, Adolf peacefully passed away and entered eternal life on May 31, 2025. He was 82 years old.

Adolf was born on January 14, 1943, in Siedliska-Bogusz, Poland to Józef and Maria (Jurek) Nowicki. On July 7, 1968, Adolf married the love of his life, Anna (Buras) and the couple settled and started their family in Tarnów, Poland.

Seeking a better life, Adolf left his beloved family and native country and immigrated to the United States in 1979. In 1984, Adolf was finally joined in America by his wife and two daughters. The reunited family settled in Wallington, New Jersey, and later moved to Wayne where he resided until his passing.

Adolf’s ambitious spirit, cheerful outlook, and strong work ethic led him to open Nowicki Painting and Masonry Company, which he owned and operated for twenty-nine years. After his retirement in 2015, Adolf’s passion for work and keeping busy continued at home through home improvement projects and maintenance of the family home and property, which were his pride and joy. He loved tending to the garden, caring for the family pets, and spent countless moments watching as birds nested and visited the many birdhouses he built and installed around his deck.

Adolf enjoyed watching the news and keeping up with current events and was a patriot through and through, both for his native Poland and America. Adolf kept in close touch with his family in Poland and was a wonderful husband and “Tatuś” and a very proud “Dziadziu”.

Adolf loved spending time with family and friends whether it be at his annual summer party on the deck, dining with family at Polish restaurants, or attending church events. Adolf had a love for music and returned to the violin later in life, picking it up as though no time had passed at all. He was able to play both the violin and the piano by ear.

Adolf was a long-time devoted parishioner of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Wallington, where he regularly attended Sunday masses, which were followed by the tradition of “coffee and cake” at home with family.

Adolf is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 57 years, Anna; his two loving daughters, Katherine and Agnes (Connolly) and her husband Tom, of Lititz, PA; his cherished granddaughters, Meghan Ann, Ellen Marie, and Mary Frances; and his siblings in Poland, Zofia and Jan, their spouses, as well as many nieces and nephews.
