Charlotte "Chotsy" Ranuska, a cherished soul from Wood-Ridge, NJ, entered eternal life on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the remarkable age of 96. Born on September 25, 1928, in Passaic, Charlotte was the daughter of William and Anna Ramoth. She lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep dedication to her family and community.
Charlotte, fondly known as "Chotsy," was the loving wife of Frank A. Ranuska, whom she married in 1949. Their partnership was a beacon of joy and adventure, lasting for 53 wonderful years until his passing in 2002. Together, they raised a beautiful family and built a home rich with memories in Wood-Ridge. They shared an affection for travels, exploring diverse cultures and places around the globe, including Europe, Africa, and South America. Their shared passion for the NY Giants led them to experience the thrill of several Super Bowl Games, celebrating together through victories and cherished moments, such as their team's monumental win at the Rose Bowl in 1987.
Charlotte was a remarkable woman in more ways than one. After dedicating her early years to raising her family, she embarked on a new chapter as a Quality Control Analyst at Dun & Bradstreet, where she made her mark for two decades before retiring in 1989. This second career allowed her to flourish and contribute to her professional community.
Her talents extended far beyond her career; Charlotte was known for her warmth and creativity. As a "super mom," she sewed outfits for her children and crafted fine lace doilies and bedspreads, showcasing her artistic flair. She found joy in cooking and baking, delighting her family with her famous raisin bread that will be remembered fondly by all who savored it.
Charlotte possessed a personality that lit up every room and warmed the hearts of those she encountered. She was kind, loving, and easygoing, often bringing smiles through her playful sense of humor. Her spirit was embodied in her beloved 1990 Volvo, proudly displaying her vanity plate "CHOTSY." A true supporter of her community, she served in the Wood-Ridge Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for 17 years, embodying the essence of dedication and service.
In her leisure time, Chotsy cultivated friendships through her love of bingo, often attending games throughout the area and enjoying countless evenings filled with laughter and camaraderie with close friends. She also cherished hosting family and friends at her swimming pool, creating countless summer memories. She enjoyed her journeys to wine country in Napa Valley, Russian River, and Paso Robles, and visiting some of her favorite spots in Florida creating lasting memories and friendships along the way.
Charlotte leaves behind a loving family who will carry on her legacy. She is survived by her devoted son, Dr. Frank S. Ranuska, and her son-in-law, James Swensen; her cherished daughter, Susan A. Krause, and her son-in-law, Kenneth Krause Jr.; her beloved daughter, Karen Ranuska Gormaley; her dear sister, Pam Barnes, and brother-in-law, David; her treasured grandson, Douglas Krause, and his wife, Paulina; along with many nieces and nephews who adored her.
She is lovingly remembered alongside those who have passed before her, including her cherished husband Frank A. Ranuska, her parents William and Anna Ramoth, her brothers William, Thomas, and Gerald Ramoth.
A visitation will be held on May 23, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, located at 80 Midland Ave, Wallington, NJ. A prayer service will take place on May 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by her burial at East Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clifton, NJ, at 11:00 AM.
