Elizabeth Therese Czerniawski (Gannon), of Wallington, New Jersey, stepped into eternity with Christ on Thursday, July 17, 2025. She was 84 years old.
Elizabeth was born in New York, NY on October 22, 1940, to Thomas and Honora (McHugh) Gannon. On April 7, 1967, Elizabeth married the love of her life, Edward Czerniawski, in New York City. They shared 58 years of devoted marriage, raising their five children and building a life of faith and family — predominantly in Franklin Lakes, NJ — before eventually settling in Wallington.
Elizabeth graduated from San Jose State University and had a diverse and accomplished career, including roles as a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines, personal assistant to the actress Doris Day, head accountant at Head-Bed Company, Steven Karmen Productions, and later with Marcel Watch Corporation.
A woman of unwavering Catholic faith, Elizabeth attended Mass daily for many years and lived her life in deep devotion to Christ. She was a fixture in all of her parishes, where she not only participated in the sacraments but also led spiritual efforts — including running the Rosary Society and the St. Anthony Novena at Our Lady of Fatima Chapel. Her commitment to prayer, service, and the Blessed Mother shaped the rhythm of her life and deeply influenced those around her.
In her personal time, Elizabeth devoted herself to raising her five children and creating a warm, faith-filled home. She found joy in her family, her Church, sharing her deep love of her faith, and in serving others.
Elizabeth is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Edward; her loving children, Kevin and his wife Laura, Elizabeth and her husband Christopher, Joseph and his wife Anastasia, Daniel and his wife Magdalena, and John Paul and his wife Miriam. She was the proud grandmother of 13 cherished grandchildren: James, Taylor, Brittney, Keira, Meghan, Ryan, Catherine, Patryk, Sebastian, Aleksandra, Katerina, Helena, and Theodore.
She is also survived by her sister Marie and Marie’s husband Odd Hagman; her sister-in-law Helen Fordunski and Helen’s husband Stanley; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. Elizabeth was predeceased by her son Patrick and her sisters Margaret and Noreen.
