Janina Gurdak

It is with great sadness that the family of Janina Gurdak announces her passing on November 20, 2025 at the age of 91. Janina was born August 10, 1934 on a small farm in Stary Rusinow in southeast Poland, not far from Rzeszow. In 1963 she emigrated to the United States and settled in Wallington, NJ. She soon met and then married her husband of 43 years, Jozef Gurdak on May 9, 1964. The following year, Janina and Jozef welcomed a daughter, Dorothy, and six years later a son, Marc, joined the family.

Janina was skilled seamstress and worked for several years at Dexter Knitting mill in Wallington and later worked for Flex Plastics in Carlstadt in the assembly department. She was a devout Catholic and proud parishioner of Most Sacred Heart, Wallington. In her spare time Janina enjoyed spending time with family, gardening and cooking everyone’s favorite meals. It was nearly impossible for anyone to convince her that they were not hungry. Routine outings would invariably lead to mandatory stops at diners, restaurants, drive thru’s, and pizza parlors. She was always quick with a smile and was at her happiest when knowing her family was taken care of and well fed.

 The absolute pride and joy of Janina’s life were her three granddaughters, Skyler, Alexa, and Morgan. They held a special place in her heart, and she never missed an opportunity to be with them and demonstrate her devotion and love for them. She could be found at band competitions, football games, lacrosse matches, and softball games watching and cheering on her girls.

Janina is survived by her daughter Dorothy Radziszewski and son-in-law Paul of Wayne, NJ, her son Marc of Wallington, and her three granddaughters, Skyler Radziszewski, Alexa Radziszewski and Morgan Gurdak. She was predeceased by her husband, Jozef in 2007 and her older sister. She leaves behind a  younger sister and two younger brothers still residing in Poland.

 Families and friends are invited to help celebrate her life at Wozniak Funeral Home in Wallington, NJ on Monday, November 24 from 4 – 7 pm. A mass at Most Sacred Heart will be held Tuesday morning at 10 am, with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
