Listen to Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" Koleduk, a life-long Pearl River resident, entered eternal life, Tuesday, October 7th, 2025, she was 11 days shy of her 103rd birthday. Peggy was born on October 18th, 1922, to William and Margaret (Helmke) Frohling, at the family homestead on Ridge Street in Pearl River. She was the second of three daughters, Catherine Frohling (Jones), and Mary (Frohling) Orange. When she was a young woman, her beloved mother Margaret died at the age of thirty-six, and she continued to help raising her younger sister. Shortly after the United States entered WWII, she began working at Camp Shanks, working as military civilian personnel, ensuring that orders were properly prepared for the massive number of troops getting ready to deploy to the various fronts of war. After the war ended and life began to return to normal, Peggy was engaged to Willet Fisher of Pearl River, who was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in Williamsburg, VA in September of 1947. After the war, she started working at Lederle Laboratories of the American Cyanamid Company, (now part of Pfizer), at the Pearl River campus, and it was here she worked in production planning department. She had worked at Lederle for over forty years, retiring in the mid 1980's. It was also at Lederle where she reconnected with her friend from high school, and local football star, John "Jintz" Koleduk. After a one-year courtship, the couple was married on October 28th, 1950, at St. Margaret's Church in Pearl River. They were married for 53 years at the time of John's passing in 2004. Spending time with family and traveling with John were two of her greatest pleasures. Peggy and John would travel all over the United States to attend his bomber group reunions; then return to share the many stories she had heard with her nieces and nephews. For over fifteen years she enjoyed traveling to Emerald Isle, NC, with her niece and nephews, and their families. The annual summer beach trips and late nights of playing pinochle were something she looked forward to every year. She also looked forward to the Woodloch Pines Resort, PA, trips with her sister and cousins Bud and Marilyn Leary, and Vincent and Mary Frohling. Peggy's catholic faith and prayer were very important to her. Whenever a family member would lose something important, the first thing to do was to call Aunt Peg and let her contact St. Anthony. Inevitably, and usually within minutes, the item would be found, and she was never surprised it was, but it was always followed up with a thank you prayer. Peggy is survived by her beloved niece, Mary and Mitch Warner, nephew, John and Elsa Orange and niece-in-law Sue Orange. She was predeceased by her nephew Bill Orange, her sisters and their husbands, Catherine and Neil Jones, Mary and John Orange. She is also survived by her twelve great nieces and nephews and twenty-seven great-great nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Niamh, Elaine and Lisa, (Peggy’s Irish-girls), who have taken such good care of her over the past several years. Without their unwavering help and friendship, Peg could not have continued her independent living. On Saturday, October 11th, a visitation will be held 11am - 11:45am at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 120 Kings Hwy., Tappan, NY 10983, followed by the funeral Mass that will be celebrated at 12 noon. Peggy, being a very private person, will be laid to rest with her husband at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Nanuet, at an undisclosed time in the near future. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Peggy's name can be made to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, appreciated. www.WarnerAndWozniak.com
