Obituary for Gerard T. "Scotty" Mc Garry

Gerard T. "Scotty" Mc Garry
Gerard “Scotty” Mc Garry, surrounded by his family, left us too soon on Sat, December 7th, 2013. Scotty was born in Blantyre (Fin-Me-Oot) Scotland to Elizabeth Cox, and a warm large family who he cherished, especially his grandmother Jane, brother John McGarry and cousin John McMurray. Devoted husband to Jean, loving father to Monica Chizmadia, Barbara Jacuk and Jacob Surma. Scotty will be greatly missed by his son in laws Dave and Matt, grandchildren David Jr, Matthew and Victoria Jacuk. The story of our fathers life is a complicated one. But it is what made him who he was, and that is what made him great. He came to the United States in 1962, graduated from Garfield H.S., class of 1964; but his heart always remained “back home” in Scotland. He was always the life of the party, and his energy was magnetic. Being a man is telling the truth, and facing your faults. He made an impact on people who were struggling and lost in the dark. He loved giving hope or maybe an electric slide to make anyone down smile. Dad, you were brave. I’m glad we became better friends. This is my way of telling the world that I love you and I was proud of you. We are Celtic United. Miss you already. Love you Dad, Monica. Visiting Wed, Dec 11th, 2-4 and 7-9 PM, Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave, Wallington, NJ. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home, (time pending) Thursday. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Intergroup, are appreciated.
