Obituary for Wladyslaw "Walter" Blaszkiewicz

Walter Blaskiewicz, of Elizabeth, New Jersey, died peacefully on May 27th, 2011, he was 85 years old. Born in Poland to Jozef and Marianna (Lapkiewicz) Blaszkiewicz on September 21, 1925. He was taken by the German Nazi's during WWII, and forced into labor. After the war ended, he was able to make his way across Europe, and managed to find safe haven in England. It is in England where he met his beloved wife, Irene. They immigrated to the United States a short time later, and started their new lives. They had one daughter who they were extremely proud of. Irene died and some years later, his daughter died, breaking his heart, in a way he would never recover. He is survived by the remainder of a very loving family, one sister, a niece and a grand nephew. They will miss him greatly. His niece Grace Srogi, recounted that Walter was a strong man, who's life was one misfortune after another. She said that the upside was, he was always grateful to the family that he did have, and who were extremely supportive.
There will be a mass o f the Resurrection, 10 AM Wednesday, June 1st, at The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 127 Paterson Ave., Wallington, New Jersey 07057; followed by interment with his wife and daughter in St. Michael's Cemetery, South Hackensack.
