Obituary for Sophie Szucs (Kucienski)

Sophie Szucs a Wallington resident since 1961, died on Jan 11th, she was 88. Sophie was born in Passaic, NJ on Oct 8, 1925 to Stanley and Eva Kucienski. She married John Szucs, Sr. on Feb 23, 1946 and they were married 55 years when John died in 2001. Sophie had worked in quality control for Hoffmann-La Roche in Nutley, retiring in 1987. A couple of years later Sophie began volunteering at St. Mary’s Hospital. She volunteered in many different areas and departments within the hospital and was very proud of her service and being able to help others. Sophie also volunteered at Church of the Most Holy Name in Garfield for many years, and she was a member of the Holy Rosary, Rosary Confraternity in Passaic. Sophie is survived by her loving children and their spouses, John J. Jr and wife Theresa Szucs, Marion and husband James Delguercio, and she was predeceased by her son Richard “Richy” in Jan of 2013. Sophie is survived by her four devoted grandsons Jimmy and Anthony Delguercio and Jonathan and Matthew Szucs, and four great-grandchildren, and Sophie’s beloved friend Connie Osborne. She was predeceased by one sister and five brothers. Visiting 3-8 PM Mon, Jan 13th, Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service 80 Midland Ave, Wallington. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9AM Tues, Jan 14th, at Church of the Most Holy Name, 99 Marcellus Pl, Garfield. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in Sophie’s memory to the Visiting Nurse Service of Totowa. Please visit WarnerAndWozniak.com to share condolences.
